Overview & Purpose

The Policy & Advocacy Committee serves as a platform for AmCham Sri Lanka members to engage on key policy matters affecting the business environment, regulatory framework, and investment climate in Sri Lanka.

Key Highlights

  • Hosted a member roundtable on Labour Law Reforms in February 2026, bringing together member companies, HR professionals, and policy advocates to discuss the Government’s proposed reforms.
  • Submitted recommendations on labour law reforms, focusing on modernization, employment flexibility, industrial relations, wages, working conditions, and investment competitiveness.
  • Conducted member consultations on the reintroduction of fuel rationing measures in March 2026 and its impact on business operations.
  • Submitted a policy proposal recommending practical measures to support business continuity under the fuel rationing framework.
  • Hosted a dedicated roundtable on the proposed amendments to the Inland Revenue Act with members and tax advisors.
  • Submitted consolidated feedback on the Inland Revenue Act amendments, focusing on policy refinement, compliance feasibility, business confidence, and investment attractiveness.
  • Facilitated member-led policy dialogue on key regulatory and operational challenges affecting U.S. and Sri Lankan corporates.
